Dislyte By Lilith Games
Dislyte is described as an urban mythological rpg, that combines the fun and strategic gameplay of turn based rpgs with a mythology setting. But the cool thing about the mythology aspect is that the developers Lilith games have created a unique way to represent mythology. By creating characters called Espers, who are essentially humans that have inherited divine powers after the miracle. What makes this unique is because the Espera aren't gods reborn but people with individual personalities and stories that you can read in their profiles. One minor issue I have here is from my playing I have yet to find a place that describes what mythology the divine powers originate from, I would like to see the website have little bios describing the gods and goddess featured.
When it comes to mobile games I always look out for a game that has a story, as I want to play these games and get hooked on their world. And this game doesn't disappoint. There are 2 stories in play. 1 is the backstory from the miracles, this is what the official website tells us about the miracles;
Remains of ancient antiquity that mushroom from the ground and represent some higher plane beyond human knowledge. The constant divine waves emanating from Miracles have turned some people into Espers with near-magical powers. Aside from this “gift”, Miracles also produce dangerous monsters and are guarded by huge and intractable Sentinels which show no mercy to outsiders. The mystery behind the Miracles has encouraged endless explorations within.
This backstory sets up the world but there's enough mystery for the game to explore but it's also a setting that could translate outside tge game. The 2nd story is the one you play, through the 12 chapters. And that story follows Brynn as she tries to track down her partner Sieg. Over the course of the story you get to learn more about the world of Dislyte and their society. It's visually stunning and engaging. The game play is also a ton of fun.
Lets take a look ar the game and what I offers. As described at the start it's a turn based rpg, what this means is you get the standard mobile rpg loop. Where you are farming nodes for resources to level up your Espers and give them equipment to strengthen them. But each encounter is played out with a team of 5 espers. Each with their own abilities, you then take it in turns to use your Espers abilities to battle enemies. And each ability is tied to the Espers divine powers, so each encounter offers a lot of strategic possibilities and amazing visuals. I am also happy the developers have created an option where you can get a recommended team for each encounter.
The way to get Espers Is through a gacha mechanic, where you use golden records to spin a dj deck to draw a hero. The game does offer plenty of gems for free that you can use to buy records, and events do offer records as well. So there is a good balance of free to play options and cash options, and from my testing it is entirely plausible to play for free. There is also cash options to get resources quicker but it's not intrusive or in your face
What I love the most about this game is that it's set in portrait mode, this is a great choice for a mobile game as it offers one handed gameplay and sometimes in my experience its easier to load a game and then quickly play without rotating. I also really enjoy how great this game looks and plays, the UI is clean and simple and with plenty of modes to play. There is always something to do, so if you're a fan of mythology and turn based games, this is one I recommend you try.
